Nuclear Security

Radiation Safety Directorate, according the Law on Ionizing Radiation Protection and Radiation Safety has competence also for nuclear security. Competence and role in nuclear security have other national institutions as well such as Ministry of Interior (Police, Border Police, Intelligence Service), Customs Administration, Ministry of Defence, etc.

In cooperation with the IAEA, within the Ministry of Interior multysectoral working group has been formed for preparing Integrated Nuclear Security Support Plan – INSSP, whereas the RSD will have significant role in preparing and implementation of the Plan.

The INSSP is in draft and it shall be adopted by the Government of the Republic of Macedonia. Activities from the Plan are in the Action Plan and first activities are planned for 2016.

In the INSSP all competent authorities which have any role in the nuclear security are covered.
